Sutherland Competitive Squad Program

Sutherland Leisure Centre's competitive squads provide athletes the opportunity to keep rising through each squad level, training in the direction of the athlete pathway program. These athletes are more serious and strive to compete at a national level

  • National Age/Open pool qualifiers
  • National Age/Open Water qualifiers 14yrs years and over
  • Must attend 60% of SLC Aquadot Swim Team meets

State squad is aimed at state qualifiers aged 12 years and over. Requirements of participant include:

  • Achieved state qualifying times
  • Must attend 60% of SLC Aquadot Swim Team meets
  • Sessions run for 2 hours.
  • Pilates and dryland sessions included as pre-sessions

Note: Other swimmers can be considered for inclusion at the discretion of the Head Coach.

Junior State Squad is aimed at 9 - 13 year old swimmers, aiming to be racing at a state level. Requirements of participants include:

  • Achieved metropolitan qualifying times
  • Must attend 60% of SLC Aquadot Swim Team meets
  • Sessions run for 2 hours.

Note: Other swimmers can be considered for inclusion at the discretion of the Head Coach

Junior Area Squad is aimed at swimmers 9-13 year old swimmers aiming to be racing at a metropolitan level. Requirements of participant include:

  • Must attend 60% of SLC Aquadot Swim Team meets
  • Aiming to achieve metropolitan racing times
  • Sessions run for 2 hours

Note: Other swimmers can be considered for inclusion at the discretion of the Head Coach.

Pre-junior Squad is aimed at 7-11 year old talented swimmers. Requirements of participant include:

  • Aiming to achieve metropolitan racing times
  • Encouraged to attend SLC Aquadot Swim Team meets
  • Sessions run for 90 minutes.

Note: Other swimmers can be considered for inclusion at the discretion of the Head Coach.

Mini-squads is aimed at talented swimmers aged 7yrs and up. Requirements of participant include:

  • Encoruaged to participate at local race meets
  • Encouraged to attend SLC Aquadot Swim Team meets
  • Sessions run for 60 minutes

Note: Other swimmers can be considered for inclusion at the discretion of the Head Coach.

  • Age 12 to 18 years old
  • This program is for teenagers who want to swim for fitness and recreation and occasionally compete.
  • Triathlon swimmers
  • National Surf swimmers
  • Water polo players

Whether you are just starting out or an experienced swimmer, dive into our multi-level squad pathway program. Embrace the sport, compete and make waves with us!

Adult Squads

Casual Squad sessions are also offered to adults who wish to improve their fitness,  whether it be to maintain a healthy lifestyle, or train for their next triathlon.

Includes all strokes with emphasis on drills and fitness. Participants should be able to swim approximately 500m of freestyle and backstroke. Outdoor 50 metre pool  sessions last for 90 minutes.

Focuses on the adult swimmer, surfer, triathlete or water polo player. Adults must be capable of swimming at least one kilometre of freestyle. Emphasises is on fitness with up to three-five kilometres being completed per session. Session run for 90 minutes.

The following timetable is for Masters squad at Sutherland Leisure Centre only. Sessions are 1.5 hours in duration.

Maroney Swim Team Senior Competition Squad

Combination of Senior State and National Athletes.
